Education for Youth
Adult leaders celebrate the Liturgy of the Word for children in grades 1-4 using the children's lectionary and then engage the children in discussion. The group leaves the 10:30am Sunday Mass prior to the first reading and return during the Offetory.
The Sunday Religious Education Program is available for children from age 3 through the 12th Grade. While the program firmly believes that parents are the primary educators of their children, the RE program supplements that formation by teaching the underlying doctrine and teachings that uphold the Catholic life.
Teachers and aides are needed for each grade level. Initial and ongoing training are provided and financed by the parish. If you are excited about the Catholic faith, would like to learn more about your own life of faith, and enjoy children, this ministry is your calling!
VBS is held each summer. Through stories, songs, activities, crafts, and snacks, children enhance their understanding of faith and Bible stories. A multitude of opportunities are available for volunteers aged 7th grade through adult. There is plenty of advanced work to be done if you can't be present during the week of VBS.
Education for Adults
The parish has several teams of parents who work to prepare parents and soon-to-be parents for the baptism of their child/ren. These teams discuss the theology of the sacrament, walk through the rite, and share their own experiences. Training is provided.
Engaged couples are paired up with trained married facilitator couples to review selected aspects of married life and facilitate communication between the engaged couple in these areas. An added benefit in this process is that the engaged couple, hopefully, forms a bond with the facilitating couple, giving them additional support during their marriage.
Training and materials are provided for couples who wish to serve as mentors.
This dynamic group helps adults and older children on their path to the sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church. Commitment can be as little as once a quarter or as frequent as every week.
Adults are needed to help lead catechetical sessions, break open the scriptures, provide hospitality, offer companionship and support on the journey, and help coordinate service opportunities.
