This vibrant group is responsible for creating and implementing programs to enliven the faith of the community. This ministry focuses on both nurturing the faith of parishioners and inviting others, both non-catholic and inactive Catholics, into relationship with Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church.
Recent programs and initiatives of this group have included Advent by Candlelight, the women's and men's Lenten Soup Suppers, small faith communities, neighborhood door-to-door ministry, and supporting a number of other ministries. Meetings are typically held the first Monday of the month from 6:30-8:30pm.
This society is a group of women who join together to support the parish and school (for non-budgeted items) and each other through meetings and events. Funds are raised for these projects by conducting the annual Christmas Bazaar, the sale of Entertainment Books, and other programs throughout the year. ARS also provides hospitality and support for many of our social events as well as flowers to homebound parishioners at Christmas and Easter. All women are automatically members through membership in the parish.
St. Helen's Boosters promote recreational activities of the parish according to Catholic Christian standards. Boosters is not limited to sports functions, and includes additional programs like scouting. Monthly meetings are held to plan and budget activities. These occur on the third Thursday at 7:00pm.
Buildings and Grounds assists the pastor and maintenance staff in identifying, prioritizing, and, in some cases, completing various maintenance projects. Members are needed for both discussion and project completion.
The mission of the Fellowship Committee is to bring parishioners together as one Christian family, striving to grow in love and fellowship, so that they may encourage each other on their faith journey.
Present and past events include our monthly Sunday Coffee and Donuts, the annual chili-cookoff, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" parties, international food fest, and supporting parish appreciation receptions. If you enjoy cooking or entertaining, this group is for you!
The Stewardship Committee's mission is to bring about a greater understanding of stewardship as a way of life and to integrate stewardship into all phases of parish planning and programming.
Committees with Service to the Parish and Beyond
In the spirit of Jesus the healer, the St. Helen Health and Wellness ministry seeks to promote the health of our community by identifying and addressing the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our community members.
Past and future projects include annual health screenings, a Community Blood Drive, Social events for parishioners over 80, weekly Zumba classes, and respite care/support for parishioners and caregivers.
The Catholic faith is committed to the belief in the sanctity of human life from conception to death. This Committee meets on a quarterly basis, studies the Cuhrch's teachings on life-related issues and holds and supports educational and service-related activities which espouse these beliefs.
The Social Action committee's mission is to integrate the principles of Catholic Social Teaching into all aspects of parish life. The committee identifies opportunities for parishioners to live their faith through involvement in working on public policies and programs related to justice, peace, and the environment.
The committee supports charity and outreach to people in need and prayerfully works to promote the common good. This group sponsors the Parish Legislative Advocacy Network, the sale of Fair Trade products, the parish Green Team, and other organizations within the greater Dayton community.
